Introducing Our First Ever Gluten Free Food Experience in Rome

If you have followed Celiacs in Europe for a while, you know that most of what we do centers around helping travelers feel confident long before they get on a plane. We build itineraries, answer questions, map out restaurant options, and try to make gluten free travel feel less overwhelming and more enjoyable. But there has always been a quiet wish in the background. The wish that one day we could offer something even MORE than planning…something real, something lived, something you could actually taste.

Today I finally get to share it. We are launching our very first in-person experience on the Celiacs in Europe platform, and it is happening in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Say hello to Rome’s Gluten Free Food Experience with a Local Expert.

This is a project that has been on my mind for a long time, but it needed the right partner and the right moment. Rome is a big, bustling, emotionally charged place to eat gluten free. The food is incredible, the options are varied, and the city is full of surprises. For travelers who rely on celiac-safe food, Rome can feel both magical and intimidating. Which places are genuinely safe? What should you order? Where do you start?

That is where this experience comes in.

A Different Kind of Gluten Free Food Tour

This is not a standard food tour where gluten free options are the afterthought. It is a fully gluten free tasting experience created with intention for celiac travelers. Every stop on the route is either 100% gluten free or accredited by the Italian Celiac Association (AIC). Tastings are included in the price. And every detail is built around the goal of letting you explore Rome through its flavors without worrying about celiac safety.

Over two and a half hours, you make your way through one of Rome’s most charming historic neighborhoods. You taste a mix of sweet and savory dishes that might include gluten free pizza al taglio, supplì, artisanal gelato, tiramisu, and a little bit of Italian coffee culture. The exact lineup shifts occasionally, but the feeling stays the same. It is relaxed, delicious, and grounded in the city’s real food scene.

Along the way, you pass some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks. Piazza Navona. The Pantheon. Campo de’ Fiori. There is something special about wandering through these ancient spaces with gelato in hand or sipping a coffee outside a quiet bakery that most tourists never find.

Meet Alessia, Your Guide in Rome

The heart of this experience is Alessia. She has worked in tourism for more than twenty years, and she has built relationships across Rome’s gluten free community that only someone local could have. Although she is not celiac herself, her husband and many of her closest friends are. She knows firsthand what it looks like to navigate travel with dietary restrictions, and she has shaped this experience so that gluten free travelers feel supported, not sidelined.

What I love most about Alessia is the way she blends professionalism with warmth. She is thoughtful about choosing stops. She keeps an eye on menu changes. She pays attention to the details that matter when you are gluten free in a foreign country. And she genuinely loves sharing her city with people who may not feel fully comfortable exploring it on their own.

Bringing her into the Celiacs in Europe ethos feels like a natural extension of everything we stand for. Human connection, local expertise, safety without fear, and travel that feels joyful.

Why This Launch Matters

This experience represents something bigger than a single tour. It is the beginning of a new chapter for Celiacs in Europe. For the first time, we are able to offer an on-the-ground experience with someone we trust. It is a way to help travelers not only plan their trip, but actually live it in the most delicious and meaningful way.

It is also the first step toward expanding into more gluten free experiences across Europe. Our long-term vision includes working with local experts in multiple countries, building a network of people who share the same care, standards, and passion for helping celiacs travel well.

So this Gluten Free Rome Tour is special. It is not just another offering. It is our way of saying that gluten free travel can be safe and flavorful, and that you do not have to figure it out alone.
