Inside a Gluten-Free Travel Consultation: What to Expect

People come to us from very different starting points.

Some have already gone deep into research. They have saved dozens of restaurants, read every blog post they could find, and maybe even mapped out their entire trip. What they are missing is clarity. With so many opinions and conflicting experiences online, it becomes difficult to know what actually applies to them and what they can trust.

Others come to us for the opposite reason. They have not had the time or energy to research at all, and the idea of starting from scratch feels overwhelming. They know they want to travel, they know they want to do it safely, and they would rather have someone guide them through it than try to piece it together on their own.

Both of these starting points, and everything in between, are completely normal.

A consultation is simply where we meet you wherever you are and help you move forward in a way that feels clear, manageable, and aligned with the kind of trip you actually want to have.

It Starts With You, Not a Template

There is no fixed structure for a consultation, and there is nothing you need to prepare ahead of time unless you want to.

Some people show up with a detailed itinerary and a list of very specific questions. Others are still deciding between destinations and want help thinking through what makes the most sense. What matters most is understanding how you like to travel, what has felt challenging in the past, and what would make this trip feel genuinely enjoyable.

From there, the conversation takes shape around you.

You’re Speaking With Someone Who Lives This

Every consultant on our team lives with celiac disease or follows a medically necessary gluten-free diet. We are also based in the countries we represent and speak both English and the local language.

That combination changes the experience in a way that is hard to replicate through online research alone.

You do not need to explain why you are concerned about cross-contact or why a vague answer from a restaurant does not feel reassuring. That understanding is already there. When you ask a question, you are speaking to someone who has likely faced a similar situation and worked through it themselves.

Because we are local, we are also able to share how things actually work on the ground. We know which restaurants are consistently reliable, how communication typically unfolds, and what details make a difference once you are in the moment.

What We Talk About During a Consultation

Food is usually where the conversation begins, but it is rarely the only focus.

We spend time talking through restaurant recommendations in your destinations, including how those places operate, what to order, and how to approach each experience in a way that aligns with your comfort level. We also cover how to navigate menus, how to communicate your needs clearly, and how labeling laws work so that grocery shopping feels straightforward instead of uncertain.

Beyond food, we often talk through the logistics that shape how your trip actually feels. Where you stay, how you get around, and how you structure your days can all influence whether things feel easy or stressful. If you want recommendations for neighborhoods, attractions, or experiences worth prioritizing, those conversations fit naturally into the call as well.

The goal is not just to help you eat safely, but to help your trip feel cohesive and enjoyable as a whole.

Choosing the Right Consultation for You

We offer three consultation options, each designed to support different needs and stages of planning.

Our Economy consultation is a 30-minute call that works well if you are looking for a starting point or want to get clarity on a few key questions. It is often the right fit for travelers who are early in the planning process or who need help narrowing down their approach.

Our Business consultation includes a 60-minute call, followed by a personalized PDF that summarizes everything we discussed so you can easily refer back to it as you plan. We can also assist with up to three restaurant reservations on your behalf, depending on your destination. This option tends to work well for travelers who want a more structured plan and a bit of hands-on support.

Our First Class consultation also includes a 60-minute call and a detailed follow-up PDF, along with support for up to five restaurant reservations, again depending on the destination. In addition, you have the option for one follow-up email exchange if questions come up after the call. This is a good fit for travelers who want a more comprehensive level of support as they finalize their plans.

Across all three options, the conversation itself remains completely personalized. The difference is simply how much time and follow-up support you would like.

The Questions That Don’t Always Have Easy Answers

At some point in most consultations, the conversation naturally shifts toward the kinds of questions that are harder to answer through a quick search.

These are the situations where context matters. What do you do if something feels slightly off at a restaurant, even if it is not clearly unsafe? How do you handle group travel when your priorities around food are different from everyone else’s? When is it worth going out of your way for a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, and when can a well-prepared non-dedicated option feel just as reliable?

Talking through these scenarios in real time allows us to explore what makes sense for you, rather than offering one-size-fits-all answers.

What You Leave With

By the end of a consultation, you will have clear, personalized recommendations, but more importantly, you will have a different relationship to your trip.

Instead of trying to piece together information and second-guess your decisions, you will have a plan that reflects your priorities and a better understanding of how to navigate situations as they come up. You will know where you are likely to eat, how to approach new environments, and what your backup options are if plans change.

That clarity tends to carry through the entire experience.

Why This Makes Such a Difference

Traveling with celiac disease will always require some level of awareness, but it does not have to dominate the experience.

When you feel prepared, you are able to shift your focus back to the reason you wanted to travel in the first place. You can enjoy the meals, the places, and the moments without constantly questioning every decision in the background.

That is what we want for you ❤️
